Climate | Chain responsibility | Double materiality analysis | Strategy development
Bijdendijk has been a coffee trader for more than 180 years and sources its coffee from all over the world.
There are many ESG themes at play in the coffee chain, both environmental and social. These themes range from deforestation and carbon emissions to biodiversity and fair wages. Bijdendijk asked 2BHonest to identify the key sustainability themes by means of a double materiality analysis and a chain risk analysis, and then draw up a sustainability strategy.
We started with a supply chain analysis to identify the most significant risks to environmental, human and labour rights. We then identified the key sustainability themes by conducting a double materiality analysis and identifying data gaps based on CSRD requirements.
With this information, we developed an action plan to address data gaps and meet CSRD obligations. We also focused on working towards more sustainable procurement. Finally, we drew up a comprehensive sustainability strategy for Bijdendijk.
Thanks to this project, Bijdendijk has a clearly defined sustainability strategy and action plan to meet its CSRD obligations. This allows Bijdendijk to focus on minimising its environmental and social impact within the coffee chain.
“Inmiddels werken we ruim een jaar met veel plezier samen met het team van 2BHonest, dat ons aan de hand heeft meegenomen in dit traject. Door de opgedane kennis kunnen wij de komende jaren zelfstandig verder met het uitbreiden van onze duurzaamheidsstrategie, targets en KPI’s.”
