Double Materiality Analysis | CSRD | Sustainability Strategy
L-Founders of Loyalty offers loyalty programmes for food retailers around the world, with the aim of strengthening customer loyalty.
With increasing demands for sustainability from clients along with the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directives (CSRD) that takes effect from FY2025, L-Founders of Loyalty saw the need to improve its sustainability practices. They engaged the services of 2BHonest for a dual materiality analysis, a CSRD gap analysis with an associated action plan, and the development of a sustainability strategy as a basis for their subsequent implementation.
For the double materiality analysis, we first conducted an internal and external analysis to identify key ESG themes within the sector. We then validated these themes through interviews and questionnaires with both internal and external stakeholders. This created an accurate shortlist of relevant ESG topics. We then organised workshops to assess the impact and financial materiality of these themes. The result is a list of material themes that serves as a basis for further work.
In the CSRD gap analyses, we linked the material themes to the CSRD data points and examined the current state of sustainability reporting and data collection. Based on this analysis, we drew up an action plan to close the identified gaps. The focus for the coming year is on further implementing ESG data collection and supporting reporting processes.
For the ESG strategy, we selected relevant themes based on the dual materiality analysis that needed to be included in the strategy. We then translated these themes into strategic pillars. Through a series of brainstorming sessions, we determined the level of ambition of these pillars and themes, after which the strategy was successfully launched. In the coming year, the themes will be fleshed out into concrete targets and KPIs.
Thanks to this approach, L-Founders of Loyalty now have clear insight into their material themes and a concrete action plan to comply with the requirements of the CSRD. This enables them to take targeted steps towards responsible and sustainable business practices.
